Thanks for your comment--just left one ...Hi Dianne,
Thanks for your comment--just left one on your blog. I do hope that the positive momentum (positive as in so many people seem to want justice and want a greater social justice to emerge from his murder) will enact positive change. I guess we just have to keep talking about it and working/acting on this wave of awareness.Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13261371053113519712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1658138279766595241.post-56444006426565161302012-04-01T20:51:17.462-04:002012-04-01T20:51:17.462-04:00I'm so saddened by Trayvon's death. I feel...I'm so saddened by Trayvon's death. I feel connected to it through my own experiences and through my husband's experiences as a black man in America. I think our young black men are marginalized and written off by the time they reach their teens because people have made them the face of violence and crime. Read my two posts about it (http://aboutracewriter.blogspot.com/), including a section on my nephew's suicide, an event that was the last of a seeming self-fulfilling prophecy predicted by a society that saw him as a criminal because of his size and race, instead of the creative, artistic, intelligent boy we knew him as. He gave up trying and his descent was tragic, not just for him but for everyone around him including his three children. I have the feeling I'll be writing about Trayvon again.

Thanks for your post as always.

Dianne
http://aboutracewriter.blogspot.com/Diannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00367333776511320196noreply@blogger.com
